Private country houses and gardens open by appointment specially for you.

Suffolk is rich in old houses and inspiring gardens, but only a few are open to the public. Our Invitation to View scheme, unique in Britain, gives you the chance to visit houses which are either closed or rarely open to you.

We treat each visitor as a special guest: you will be part of a small tour which is often shown around by the house owner or, at least, a guide with personal knowledge of the place. We want to tell you about our houses – the history, architecture, character and how we live in them.

Because many are family homes and the number of people we can show around is quite small, we ask you to book as soon as you can. To help, we have tried to co-ordinate our opening dates so you can see more than one in a day and several in a week.

All of us offer coffee, tea and cakes or a meal plus the chance for a chat. The full programme of our opening dates is listed on the calendar page.
